Okay, so I'm really concerned about something. Guys, you probably don't want to look at this.

I've been getting my period for about 3 years now. But lately my period is moderate on the first day and then after that practically nothing. And for some reason my blood is black??? Help.....?

This is totally normal. Menstrual blood isn't only blood, there are cells, bacteria etc. When blood loses oxygen, it turns a deeper colour, usually this happens at the end of your period when the flow is not as heavy, as it takes longer for the blood to exit the body, but it can happen at any time.

it can also be cells etc. with old blood, old blood is brown, so this might give it a darker colour as well.

I was actually about to post almost the same post. I am having my period right now and it's very very light flow and is black! I was kind of grossed out by it today and wondered what was wrong.

menstrual blood can be all sorts of colors. no worries, color is not a symptom of anything by itself. even with other symptoms, it really doesn't tell much.

All blood is similar but not exactly the same, just like how your boogies are all similar but sometimes different colors, or how your eye goo is sometimes more yellowy and sometimes more clearish or white.

Basically it all depends on your body. As some people stated before it can depend on how old the blood is, and also what sort of balance your body is in. I always notice that my fluids are all a little more vibrant/colorful when I'm sick or when I've been eating really poorly. Bodies are all about balance.
