Im trying to get a tatto that symbolizes feminism, or womens intuition or something along those lines. I wanted it to look tribal or something very original. Do any of you know of any signs or websites that have a listing of feminism symbols?

I have a variation of this, the goddess symbol:

The triple Goddess: The waning, full and waxing represent the maid/daughter, mother, and crone/grandmother. They are the three fates, three out of five for the cycles of life, and important posistions of honour in many cerimonies (Celtic, Egyptian, Greek, Native North/South American, some South Asian myths). I find it important to note that the "mother" does not mean she who has had a child, in the case, but she who is fertile, or menstrating. The maid is prepubesant and the crone is postmenopausal. The importance of the moon and its cycles have been linked to women in almost all of the mysticism of the worlds main religions and pretty much all of the smaller tribal religions that I have studied.

Where did I see the symbol? I don't remember. I had the tattoo done about 10 years ago though...

these aren't all feminist, but Aboriginal symbols are awesome and there are some great female ones. Here's an example: http://www.didgeridoos.net.au/aboriginal-symbols.html

I always thought a simple circle was symbolic of a female.

The circle is symbolic in many cultures of the feminine. It represents the whole moon, the pregnant belly, the vaginal opening, the birth canal, and the all-encompasing ability that women have for life (going back to the previous comment about the five cycles of life). In binary, 0 (zero) is woman because she is all and nothing, before and after, life and death, the begining and the end. 1 is male because he is and will be but one comes from something, if that something is nothing, for man always comes from a woman, but never a woman from a man. Hence (mathematical) no matter what you multiply 0 with, it is always 0 but 1 takes on whatever is is multiplied with (and this is seen as proof of the unbending will of feminine and the compromising will of man...much different than western ideologies...)

A couple of symbols that I like are the Norse Runes: http://morgan3150.tripod.com/Runes.html
and the symbols of Ghana (West Africa by Côte d'Ivoire) from the tribe Adinkra: http://www.hcc-nd.edu/mwp/adinkra/
The Runes there is the Beorc (which looks like an angles B) which is the rune for fertility, creation, and the femine gender. It also represents hard work, new projects or venture. Ther eis also the Ing (looks like a diamond) which represents feminine sexuality and completions of ventures. Lagu is the symbol for water, intuition and the feminine gender.
For the Adinkra, there are many symbols, most where the woman is implied, and most of them are relationship symbols, like friendship. The main symbol for woman is the comb, Duafe, representing cleanliness, virture, and everlasting love. These sybols are highly influenced by the Islamic cultue.
OPther things to look into is the Goddesses of the world. My favorite Goddess is Kali, whom many people fear because she is the Hindu goddess of descruction. But is studying her I have found that she is also represenative of strength, force of will, and life for without death there is not life and her role is imperitive to the cycle.

Enjoy your exploration on symbolism and mythography.

Another thing that I can tell you is what I am doing. The tatoo that I am getting I designed. It means a lot to me and integrates many parts of me and my family. I can think of nothing more symbolic of the feminine then the symbol of yourself (as a woman).
