For you tampon users out there, how many do you usually go through in a cycle?

I'm asking because, this month, I had a few (6 or so) left from last month's box. So on the 28th I went out and bought a box of 18 Super absorbancy tampons, and just had to go last night to the store again to buy a brand new box, and am already well into that one. So in five days, I've gone through, roughly 28 tampons.

That just doesn't seem right. Maybe I should use Super Plus instead? Just thought I'd get everyone's input on that.

I would suggest using a cup, putting aside the obvious health benifits, it's a lot more convenient, a lot cheaper and a lot greener. Just a thought.
Going back to when I used commercial tampons I would have gone through 18 in around a day and a half.

I most decidedly agree. Yeah to the cup peddlers!
For the amount of money that you would spend in three months on tampons you could buy a cup that will last ten years. If you haven't heard much on cups or want to learn more about them go to menstralcups

are the tampons soaked through when you take them out?

if you don't mind the idea of hormones, you might consider going on hormonal birth control because it ought to REALLLY cut down on the amount of bleeding. i mean, when you're bleeding that much you are at risk for being anemic, and that will make you feel tired and just generally crappy. so make sure you are taking a multivitamin that includes 100% of your iron, at least.

I actually am already on Ortho Tricyclen. The only thing it really did, was regulate my period a lot. It used to jump around a lot, last 3 days one day, 8 the next. It's the same length, and at the same day now. In the beginning of the OTC, I had lighter flows, but it's gotten as heavy as it was before.

Holy moly! I use lites (if i can find them) or regular (which are too absorbant), 2 a day and nothing at night. so i use ... eight or so? Maybe less, maybe one or two more.

I typically go thru a box (give or take a handfull) each month. But I used to get 10 day periods so I used a ton in those days.

I use way too many in my cycle as well, and I even use Super Plus absorbency AND I'm on birth control! It's pure hell. But also I think another thing that has to do with it is how many times a day you change the tampon :].
