Thank you for coming late..
May. 5th, 2005 07:03 pmI will have my period on my prom. I'm not so much worried about leaks and whatnot, but how will I change a pad and a tampon when I'm in a small stall with a frilly, poofy ballroom dress? Have any of you had to do it? I just don't know how I will manage to hold up 352464 inches of fabric with one hand while changing a pad or tampon with the other....
Any suggestions?

Date: 2005-05-05 11:12 pm (UTC)my suggestion is to get an "instead" cup, because those can be used for up to 12 hours. if your flow is especially heavy, wear a pad too, so if the cup leaks you'll have a backup. then you won't have to change anything.

Date: 2005-05-05 11:16 pm (UTC)Usually when I am in a position involving nice clothes and tiny handbags, I layer. I wear a panty liner with an overnight pad on top of it and then take another pantyliner and wrap it horizontally around the pad in the area that's hardest hit and then maybe use a tampon in addition if I'm in a really heavy stage. That way, if the tampon starts leaking the top liner will catch it. Once the tampon has had it, I just remove it and perhaps the top liner too and let the pad go to work. Since you (and I) will be in prom dresses, the handicapped stall would be a good idea but hopefully after removing the tampon you won't have to make any more trips.
It's not very conventional but it gets the job done. Maybe someone else has a better idea.
