how long would YOU wait til you take a pregnancy test after missing your period. i expected aunt flo 5 days ago and i'm wondering if i should start worrying.
You can take a home pregnancy test the day that you expect your period. Most HpG's are sensitive to an HcG level of 40. This means you could take it 10 days after ovulation and get a positive result. For the best chance of an accurate result, wait till the day you expected your period. Take the test in the morning (when you have the highest concentrations of the hormone in your urine), although it should be accurate any time of day. The test will be less accurate if it's been less than three hours since you last urinated, if you've consumed lots of liquids... hence the first mornings urine is better. If you're five days late, take a test. The earlier you know the results, the longer you have to consider your options and seek prenatal care, if necessary! Good luck!
I'd wait at least a month. 5 days is too soon to do a preg test. I've actually skipped whole months without get my period and then to just have it show up again next month, on schedule. Heh.
That kinda depends on if you have any reason to worry ;) But, when I thought I was pregnant with my second child (I was), I took the test 6 or 7 days after I had expected my period and it came out positive.
I took the pregnancy tests that I've taken after a week of lateness, if it said negative I waited a week after to take it again if I'm still late. I know most people say it's a waste of money and to just wait it out but it all depends on the type of person you are. If you are a worrier like me take the test as soon as you feel necessary, if you're not, do what you will.
I usually start wondering at a week, and take a test around 10-14 days if it hasn't shown up. I take it again at 21 days if needed, and usually around 28 days late it shows up (having skipped one). I'm often up to 10 days late.
