I was looking online for reasons for problems with my period. I found that change in diet and exercise can affect it. I am 19 and started my period when I was 12. I have been on birth control since June 2004.

This is the third month my period has been messed up. I have been eating different and exercising for about 3 months now. I didn't think anything would change since I am on birth control, Zovia 1/35E. The first month I started exercising my period didn't come at all. The second month, it came a week early. So I ended up having it for 2 weeks.

Now the third month, I should not start my period until May 22nd. On Monday or Tuesday I woke up with real bad cramps and some slight bleeding in the morning. Using a pantyliner worked fine for a couple days. Then by night it would stop and start again in the morning. Now it continues all day long, although I have a little over a week of my active pills left. The flow is pretty much the same as it is when I'm on my period.

I have been dieting and exercising, but I haven't lost a great deal of weight or anything. In the past 3 months I lost 12 lbs, if that helps at all.

Also, I am sexually active. My bf and I do not always use condoms, but we usually do. I am very good at taking my pills everyday at around the same time.

I'm just sick of having cramps and bleeding all the time! Its horrible.

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!

i'd recommend talking to your doctor/gyno - i dont know if the weight loss or different diet/exercise habits would do this, but periods are wierd and wonderful :)

however, you might want to talk to them about a change in Pill, cause that might help.

Echoing the above poster -- the change in eating/exercise habits can certainly affect things, but also, not every formula of pill works well for every person. If this continues, yes, I'd suggest you talk to your doctor about switching to a different brand/formula of the pill and see if your body handles it better. Good luck!
