Hi... usually my period lasts 4-5 days and is never too heavy. I'm on day 4 now and it's still really heavy, as in I can feel it kind of coming out. When I go to the toilet it sort of gushes a bit.

I'm worried that it won't stop... it calmed down when I was asleep last night but this morning I went to the toilet and big clots came out. I couldn't be miscarrying could I?

This may be just an usally heavy period but because I'm not used to it I'm worrying that I'm losing too much blood and such.

I did start taking the pill on Friday but for certain reasons couldn't take it again and have to restart- could this have caused the upset?

Very possibly. But if the heaviness doesn't stop and you start to actually feel ill, I'd go to the doctor.

Hmmm, I think if you miscarry it would of been like one time throughout your period that was intense, not the entire cycle. I dont know about the pill either because I think it takes a week for your system to get used to taking it, so I dont know if a few days would even do anything.

If it ends when its supposed to, give a day more or so, I wouldnt worry about it. Your body's never really regular all the time. However if your real nervous, since no one knows whats really going on besides you, then it wont hurt to go to the doctors and ask.

A heavy, clotted period can indeed be a miscarriage. If you could be pregnant, then you might want to check with your doctor about this--if you miscarry and they know about it, they like to make sure there's no tissue remaining that might get infected (rare but possible).

However, yes, it could also be your body reacting to having hormones it wasn't used to when you took the pills. Hard to tell... if you have no other reason to think you might have been pregnant (like, say, unprotected sex) then that's probably it.

Unsolicited advice: you might want to be sure to ingest enough iron, so that you don't start swinging towards anemia....
