I was supposed to put a new Nuva Ring in last Sunday, but I didn't. Call it laziness, call it stinginess, whatever (I wasn't having a bad experience, and there really is no reason for me to be on it, nor a reason to not be on it). I'm not sexually active right now, and there are no prospects even on the radar, so getting pregnant isn't an issue. This is also the first time I'm not on a single prescription drug in over 3 years. So I'm wondering, what am I going to experience now that I'm off BC? The last time I experienced this was 5 years ago, and I don't remember. I have no clue what my body is like as a grown woman without extra hormones, and I'd kinda like to know (the whole get to know my body better thing).
What can I expect?

I was on BC pills for almost 10 years.
When I went off of them (about 4 years ago) I noticed a subtle yet profound difference right away.
Everything felt different. I would never go back on the pill.
There was a little moodiness as my hormones struggled to balance themselves. (They still aren't totally "normal".)
My periods have been a lot lighter than they were before I went on the pill (For a couple of years after getting off they only lasted 2-3 days, now they're up to 3-4).

That's about all I can think of. I'm sure it's different for everyone though.

heehee, when I took a break from the pill a couple of years ago (to see if my cramps would come back, actually, which they unfortunately did after several months...) for the first month, I felt that blood congestion in the pelvic floor like when one is aroused, 24/7 for a month.

other than that, no particular observations. my old longer cycle length re-established itself right away. oh, yeah. before I went on the pill, the stretchy mucous one gets around ovulation was always super evident in me, but I wasn't able to detect it during the 15 or 16 months I was off the pill. It kinda bothered me, but my doctor assured me that if I was menstruating so regularly, it was unlikely that I wasn't ovulating.

Hmm...of course it's different for each person, but I'm in the same boat...

I went off the Nuvaring (well, BC in general) about 2-3 months ago. I was on BC for 5 years solid before this. Here's what I've gone through:
1. weight gain (nothing huge...maybe 5 pounds. Not sure why I would gain coming off the hormones instead of when I'm on them...)
2. breast tenderness 3 out of 4 weeks in a month
3. MAJOR cramps!!!!!
4. less moodiness around 'that time'

That's all I can think of right now...I'm sure there are more (especially if I ask my boyfriend).

Fun times ahead...
