menstrualhutGraphic period question..I hope this is an ok thing to post? The off-topic thing still throws me!
In the past I've had problems with my periods being too frequent or irregular (my DR didn't think it was anything to worry about, as I have a bladder disease and many sufferers find their hormones a bit different), but this time my problems a little different and I don't know if im weird or normal..
(er..don't read this if you're on an empty stomach or easily grossed out)
my period arrived on time last friday, and was incredibly light for the first 3 or 4 days. since then it got heavier and it's still going strong today, but the blood somehow seems a little different than normal. usually when I bleed it's quite (this would be the graphic part) thick and with blood clots/mucus, but just now it's just straight, fresh, bright red thin blood, but lots of it, like you would if you had a big cut somewhere, is this normal?? i remember having periods like this when I was on the pill and for about 3 months after I came off it, but it hasn't been like this for a while. is it something to worry about? i'm slightly worried if this is even my period or some sort of "bleed between" periods thing..even though my period was due, like I've said the dates have always been erratic for me, although I did have a brown discharge just before I started.

Date: 2005-06-03 01:08 pm (UTC)that's what happened to me when I stopped taking my BC, but I haven't taken it in like..1 or 2 years (memory like a fish!). if you ever come off BC long term then you can definately expect some weird periods/bleeding between periods from what I can remember!
maybe this is just normal then..it's just in the past my blood has never been so thin (yet plentyful) and bright..it's usually all other "stuff" too, I read something once like that you only actually loose 2 teaspoons of actually blood during your period, and the rest is mucus and stuff..but I can't see that being the case with this! <3

i'm pretty sure that it is normal but i'm no doctor. either way i hope everything is ok.
