I've been a member of this community for a long long time but I have been away from LJ for a year or so but I've been snooping around lately and I remembered being in this community so I'd love some flippin' input on this problem!!



Ooooo..K! I'm currently on Ovcon-35 birth control and have been for little over a year. Well for the last few months my periods have been rather...off? Lemme 'splain...

NORMALLY my periods start off with a light BRIGHT red flow for one day...then it's heavy and slowly tapers off and ends with a darker brownish blood. Occasionally clotty...fun stuff. WELL lately it starts (almost a week early) dark dark dark brown...VERY clotty...VERY mucusy..icky icky...last month it never even reached a red stage..it remained brown and gross the whole time...this period is barely a freakin period..it's brown and clotty but barely anything is coming out. It's painful..it feels like my period is trying really hard to start because I'm cramping and feel awful but I dunno..it's weird. I NEVER miss a pill. I'm very good about taking it but for the last few months it's almost as if it's not a strong enough dose? I was bleeding for like 2 weeks at a time...I tried getting in w/ my gyno but I'd start bleeding again when it came time for my appointment and they'd tell me to reschedule. This happened 3 times so I got pissy with them and now am in the process of finding a new one. But dear god..this isn't normal is it?! Has anyone ever experienced this? T_T

ANY input would be greatly and forever appreciated. I'm stressing myself out like crazy.

well, I'm on ortho tricyclen lo, and my period is "done" but since I started taking the pill on the first day of my period, once my period has finished, my body has been getting rid of what seems to be a lot of damn blood clots. I've been like this for about a week now, at least now it's down to spotting. I'm hoping this ends soon b/c it's gettin' annoying. gr. I even have small cramps.

i'm on the pill too and until last night when i got my period i was scared i might be pregnant, because i was a bit late. i'm having the same kind of flow as you, it's brown and very very light but for some reason REALLY FUCKING PAINFUL! suckage.

What pill are you on? I was scared I was pregnant as well because for the last few months my periods have gotten weirder and weirder..I bought a pregnancy test cuz I got so paranoid but it came out negative...but what the hell is going on with my body?!

Question...are you on any other meds? This all started for me when I started Wellbutrin..my periods started going crazy...but I stopped Wellbutrin and started Cymbalta...I wonder if it's connected. I'm calling a freakin gyno tomorrow. I'ma scurred!

I know any birth control pills can give you mid-cycle spotting as a side effect (and it can start even after you've adjusted to them); this sounds sort of like a variation on that, like your body is just wavering between that and drawing out your period. I wonder if it would go away if you switched to another formulation of bcp?
