Hmmm question
Jun. 8th, 2005 06:26 pmI read this post Here, I thought I was one of the few people who has whacky cycles. My question is, i'm 21 and my periods have never ever been normal. I can go up to a year without getting one. I get cramps, just not blood. I talked to the dr, and she said a lot of things can cause that (weight, body type, genetics, medication, stress ect) but I have it now, and I'm on day 9 it's annoying. Am i just doomed to have a strange cycle, or when it's over should I talk to my dr?
Hate to sound naive, but i'm not very girlie i'm more like a guy when it comes to this stuff. The less I have to deal with it, the better.

Date: 2005-06-09 04:17 am (UTC)I had exact same thing! For me, they found out i had a cyst on one of my ovaries. I do not think this is something Dr.s usually check for. The only reason i was checked was because i had a special blood test done and it found an imbalance so they checked everything.
Besides having the cyst they wanted me to have regular prds. They were gonna do surgery to remove the cyst and put me on birth control before they did it. Amazingly, the B.C. made the cyst disappear and no surgery was needed!
I hope this helps and maybe a blood test could help see if there are any hormone problems.
Good luck!

Date: 2005-06-09 05:04 am (UTC)Also the FDA is a little weird about meds lately. Some say it has a lot to do with money and such. Its a bit scary really...i mean ifits dangerous of course pull it..but if they have money as a motive then its simply ridiculous.
Anywho, thanks for sharing your period story...made me feel little more normal :-)

Date: 2005-06-16 02:52 pm (UTC)For your doctor to just say "it's cool, forget about it" without trying ANY medication or running ANY tests seems a little neglectful. Missing periods isn't unhealthy, but it's not normal, and could be an indicator that something isn't as it should be.
