Well, i started my period on wednesday. except, i was feeling horny all week and decided to masterbate twice in that week. Usually my periods last for 4-5 days, but it has almost been a week, and its still hasn't died down. I wonder if this had anything to do with the masterbation?

If a post of this genre has been posted in the memories, please point me in the right direction, and feel free to delete this post.

in my experience, masturbation hasn't affected my period at all. i haven't heard of the two being related, either, but hey I could be wrong.

I find the opposite happens, and I had a nurse at one point suggest the same.
Sex does even more so - something about all the bouncing around and contractions help the lining shed better.

Are you around other women? (Trying to figure out the 'cousins' comment.)
Its possible that if you've spent a lot of time around women who are at different points in their cycles, you could be picking up their hormones. I went on a weekend trip with many moms and young teenage girls and hormones were flying and I got my period even though I was still on the patch, trying to skip it (who really wants to sit on a bus for 8 hours with cramps, eh?). It turned out that all but one of the moms was on her period, so it was a lost cause for me - after four days breathing in all of those hormones, the patch surrendered in defeat! :D
