Jun. 19th, 2005 02:49 pmi searched extensively in the memories for my specific needs but alas i am here posting, but if there is somewhere else where these answers reside i would love for this post to be deleted and i be redirected.
the facts:
i randomly got a yeast infection yesterday morning and am holding out treating it because i already somehow messed up my discharge after using monistat while not having a yeast infection (is that even possible? because after using the monistat my discharge was significantly thicker since then but not chunky and itchy as it is now). yesterday was also my last pill (Cyclessa) taken for the month meaning i will be menstrating within the next week or so.
i was wondering a few things things:
being someone who has had ONE yeast infection before due to antibiotics and this birth control being pretty new (i've been on it two months so far), could my birth control possibly be the culprit? because this thing was pretty random and i don't like the idea of not knowing how it came about. would it be effective if i put like a drop or two of tea tree oil in my menstrual cup which is rubber to battle this while i'm menstruating? i know it's not recommended that anything be inside you while infectious, but i don't really feel like wearing pads for yet another cycle (i just got the cup the other day) and am really looking for a shortcut. *sillylaziness*
and one final wishful-thinking question:
do yeast infections (hopefully!) have a way of working themselves out? it's a very mild one, but annoying nonetheless. i am really hoping i don't have to use that disgusting monistat again either.
lots of random questions but i wanna know! thanks in advance.. and i'm pretty sure this will be cross-posted.

Date: 2005-06-20 12:31 am (UTC)I agree with the other comment...talk to you doctor. While it's more than likely a yeast infection it could also be something else that can't be treated with a simple OTC med (like BV). Even though it's mild now, in a couple days it can get pretty uncomfortable.
Oh, and one other thing...eating a yogurt a day helps. Not so much when you already have it - it's more for prevention of a yeast infection.
Good luck!

Date: 2005-06-20 12:43 am (UTC)yes it is possible for your body to fight off a yeast infection by itself, but i don't think you can 'mess up your discharge' but using the monistat while you don't have an infection - if so there would be a lot of messed up people out there from trying to treat themselves without knowing what's wrong with them!
if you have had a yeast infection before and this feels the same, your doctor may be willing to prescribe you a diflucan pill or two over the phone. otherwise, it is a good idea to see them about it, or there is always the option of using the over the counter stuff - i recommend the 3 day treatment, the 1 day is not enough and it is more irritating.

Date: 2005-06-20 08:46 am (UTC)A good non-medicinal remedy is plain yogurt. insert a yogurt-soaked tampon, perhaps?
If you do use a yeast infection cream when you don't have a yeast infection, it can cause you to have super strong yeasties that can't be killed by the cream anymore.
hope this info helped!
