I looked through the memories, recent posts, and well..a lot of the Internet XD, but didn't find much to help me out. Sorry if the answer is really obvious!

For about a week now, I've had to urinate frequently. Sometimes I feel like I have to urinate, but when I try, nothing comes out.(Sorry if that sounds horribly crude; I didn't know how else to put it!)

Now, I went to the doctor a few months ago because I had some itching and burning down there, and she gave me meds for a urinary tract infection and a yeast infection, because we weren't sure what it was (the bacteria count in my urine sample wasn't high enough to be a UTI, but it was still higher than average, and since I had symptoms of both infections, she decided to just treat me for both).

I brought it up with a friend of mine, and she said that she always gets that right before her period. I've never had it happen to me before, though, so I'm slightly concerned. When I Googled it, the only results I got were things about pregnancy (and there's absolutely no way that I could be pregnant), and things about UTIs.

I guess my questions are:
1.) Is it normal for a female to get these frequent urges to urinate, right before her period?
2.) Is it possible that I do have another UTI, so close to the last one? Keep in mind that I've been having a glass of cranberry juice a day ever since my last one, and I also drink a lot of water (but not enough to make me feel like I constantly have to go, especially when I just went).

I'm going on my annual three-day family vacation next week and I'd really like to get this cleared up before then. And by "cleared up," I mean "not have to go to the doctor, because I don't want to have to pull down my shorts." ;]

Thank you so much for any help that you can give me!

i don't get the frequent urination but a vitamin c tablet is loads more effective than like, a gallon of cranberry juice :)

i could be totally offbase, buuuut........

i had a uti....and after it cleared up, i still had symptoms. the urge to pee all the time, and when i did, it burned during and for ages after. i did some research online and found something that sounded exactly like what i had, except that it's sufferers are usually women post menopause.
i was 25.

whilst nothing burned or itched then, it was just sort of an all over pain...a reoccurrence months later fit the symptoms more so then when it first kicked in.

i dunno that my doctor would have thought to test for it if i hadn't identified it myself and asked her to do so.

i hope you get it all figured out!

I felt that way when I had a bladder infection once. Or you could just be expelling more water right now, particularly if you're getting over a UTI. Regardless, give the doc a jingle, and see what she says. It never hurts to call them.

Right before and during my period I always feel as though I have to pee constantly and when I try nothin' or very little happens. I think it's just the extra pressure in the region during that time (at least for me).

lots of pms meds have diuretics in them to make you pee a lot so you lose some of the water weight. so if you're taking midol or anything before your period, that could be the cause of it. but i don't know about the other symptoms.
