question for those who have had babies....

Hey, if you breastfed (and maybe even if you didn't)...does anyone else have this problem: each month, either when I ovulate or right before my period starts, I'll have a breast leak a little fluid. I guess it isn't really a "problem," more of a mild annoyance. But I wonder if any other moms get this? (I stopped nursing my last baby 17 months ago.)

I had that happen for 5 years after my last baby was born. Now I've got the new baby girl, and it continued even through the pregnancy.

I occasionally leak (I mean, once every, say... 6 or 7 months) a tiny bit, and I've NEVER been pregnant!

A few years ago I had a cyst on my ovary and before they were sure what was wrong, they asked me if I had a any lactation. It can be a sign of hormonal imbalance, I would get my blood checked out! I think it mainly is because of thyroid issues. It doesn't necessarily have naything to do with breast fedding, but the pregnancy could have triggered something

Hey this comment is really helpful. I hadn't really thought of the thyroid connection before, but it makes sense. I have a family history of thyroid imbalance (two aunts, my sister, my cousin). Maybe I should have it checked out!

Oh no! I take it you are cyst-free and OK now. Well, my obgyn has seen me leak and was not alarmed. The thyroid theory is very interesting...

I don't know. I had a question about it before, you know, when it first happened, and I was told that it happens to some women. Apparantly you can lactate without being pregnant/nursing/etc. She said I would probably take to breastfeeding well.
So I think its pretty cool. :)
