Hey ladies.

It's been a while since I posted last. I was on the progesterone-only bc pill and only had a period every few months (talk about weird! I'd constantly be paranoid...I should've bought stock in pregnancy tests). I've stopped taking them for a variety of reasons and am trying to get my cycles to even out. I've never really had a normal cycle. A naturopathic physician told me that it sounded like I have a hormonal imbalance, but I haven't had the money to actually get the tests done so I'm not sure.

Anyway, I'm rambling. To get to my point:

In my quest to make my home more eco-friendly, I'm looking for ways to eliminate waste. When my period started a couple of days ago and I discovered I was out of supplies, I looked into alternative menstrual supplies. I'm currently trying out Gladrags. Anyone else have any ideas? They seem to be doing OK right now, except that I made a mistake by buying only one box instead of a multi-pack. I'm also considering cutting up some of my daughter's old cloth diapers to use as inserts instead of purchasing more...I think it might work.

Any suggestions appreciated!

I LOVE my DivaCup as well. Another thing that I wanted to point out is talk to your doctor about starting a regimine of ChasteTree (Vitex) because it has been shown to help with regulating hormones, esp estrogyn cycles, so that your periods are more even in cycle and flow. Obviously not a BC but it does help. I take mine in tincture, 30ml twice daily with water, but there are pills. As long as you have no allergies to anything related to Vitex or on any meds that may get complicated it may be something that you can try out. It is not that expensive. It is one of the herbs that is being researched in Germany for menopaus relief and has been used for a long time. There are others, like DongQuay and Blue Cohosh (used with Black Cohosh) but I have found the best results cross-pop curvey with ChasteTree.
