Hello, I am 15 years old and very freaked out.
The past week I've been stressing about getting into secondary school etc, and my period was supposed to come around now... But nothing. I have had my period for five years, always regular, and it's odd that it ever disappears when I'm stressed.
But I've also had horrible pains in my abdomen, like I was actually on my period, and I suddenly also have discharge (I rarely ever get it) and it is worrying me a bit since it's rusty-coloured and smelling pretty bad. Is it supposed to?

I'm not on any pill or medication, eating like I've done previously and yeah, generally no major change.

Help?

How long have you had the discharge and pains?

I've also had the rust-coloured discharge, and it's (as far as I know) only been my period kind of warming up and getting started. I really don't know though...I'm sorry.

stress can be a contributing factor to delayed periods. sounds like maybe the rusty-coloured discharge is spotting? since it's different than usual for you, i'd suggest seeing the doc and asking what's up.

good luck!

Because you're in plenty of (new) pain and the discharge is new and stinky, I think a trip to your doctor or ob/gyn is in order. Sometimes, discharge with an unpleasant odor can be a sign of an infection (i.e. yeast infection)--of course, sometimes it's just unpleasant-smelling because hey, we weren't built to excrete perfume.

My guess is that what you're going through is a normal (if disturbing) and temporary change. Since you're fifteen, your body is still going haywire with the hormones, which of course will affect your cycle. Nonetheless, I still advise seeing your doctor--I'm just an LJ hack.

Happened to me this week, I've never had sex, I am a virgin...but I have done other things. Anyway, my period wasn't coming, so I was like, OMG! Maybe I am pregnant! Turns out I wasn't, I just delayed my period due to stress.

That happened to me this week! That's actually why I was scouting around the community in the first place. I've started bleeding now if only a little bit, 10 days late, so perhaps that's what will happen with you too. I was flipping out because I thought I was pregnant :( But like the girl up there said, it's probably worth going to the doctor if what you're experiencing is very different to your normal period.
