I have been using the instead cups for 2 months now and they do not seem to work very well. I am always manging to leak even if its not even remotely full. I followed all the instructions but it doesn't seem to be working. I also seem to have very bad cramps when i have it in. I am wondering if anybody has some suggestions of an clue as to why it leaks.

I could be that you have a tilted cervix.

insteads never work for alot of people. if you're interested in a cup, a diva works much better, imho. [livejournal.com profile] menstrual_cups may help.

i've been using instead for several years now and i love them, but it took me a while to get used to using them. i had the same leaking problem the first few months, then i had sex with one of them in, and afterwards when i went to remove the instead i noticed it was so very much further up than it had ever been before. the next time i inserted the instead i pushed it way back...until i was pinching the sides of the instead together again inside of me....very far back like it had been after sex. the instead has to be around the cervix. my problem was i wasn't putting it far back enough....it was in front of (below) my cervix. if you push it as far back as possible and make sure that the far side of the instead goes over the cervix to make sure the cervix is inside of the instead it shouldn't leak. this took a bit of practice, but it was well worth it...i haven't had leaking problems since.
