Im just looking for some opinions on what i should do. I'm 21, my period has been normal since the day i got it..until this past week on sunday and it hasnt stopped- at all. im really worried because just yesterday alone i went through a whole box of tampons. i asked my mom about it and she said it was stress because yesterday i also found out my dad had a heart attack, but it was like this on sunday too so i dont know if i should go to the hospital myself, or wait and make an appt with my gyno. it probably seems obvious and maybe im just paranoid but can stress really make it this bad? everytime i stand up im dizzy, i feel like im about to puke constantly and i bleed through pads like they are tissue paper. i have the most uncomfortable pain in my legs and my face feels numb. if its just because of stress and someone has had this before ill probably just ride it out, i dont want to over react though because my family is already dealing with enough. Thanks a bunch - Kelli

I'd go to the doctor. What could it hurt? You know your body best, and if something seems wrong and different, it's best to be careful.

i'd do whichever's fastest - yes stress will make your cycle do funny things, but numbness/pain etc is _not_ (imo) to be ignored.

i think your family would rather overreact now, and be safe :)

The nausea, heavy bleeding and faintness are not normal, and require immediate medical attention. You would not be overreacting if you went to an emergency room for this. I'm sure your family would rather not deal, but I am also sure that you would rather not have the problem. Since you do have the problem, it is better that you take care of yourself. Your family will deal with that a lot better than they would deal with you passing out from blood loss.

I hope you went to the doctor. This is gonna sound like I watch too much tv, but I remember an episode of nip/tuck where Annie used tampons when she wasn't supposed to and got TSS. Sean figured out it was that when she said she couldn't feel anything... he said something to the effect of, "Loss of feeling is a sign of toxic shock." Not meaning to freak you out, just saying. I hope you're doing okay now...

It is not normal to be soaking through that many pads or tampons. If you are dizzy and sick, and all that I would suggest going to your doctor.

hi there. i hope you went for some help. that doesnt sound too good. actually, some of the symptoms sound a lot like what i had in may. i could barely stand and i was dizzy with shortness of breath. my face went numb, too. i let it go on for longer than necessary and ended up needing a blood transfusion. i dont want to scare you but i just hope that you're going to be ok.

are you clotting a lot?

i'm sorry to hear about your father. i hope he'll be ok.

take care.
