And I'm sorry if this has been asked but I couldn't find it

If you're sick when it's around time for you to ovulate (eg, a cold, flu, etc) could that cause you to skip a month?

Thanks

I guess anything that messes you up a bit like that could cause changes in your cycle <3

i've heard of it delaying ovulation, but i don't know about skipping entirely. it's probably possible.

it all depends on the cycle. some women ovulate on day 12. some on day 20. hard to say. if you track your cycle, you might get a better inkling of exactly what day you generally ovulate, and then be better able to tell when/why you'd be late. a really good book on the subject is toni weschler's taking charge of your fertility (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0060937645/qid=1121486399/sr=8-1/ref=pd_bbs_1/002-6712887-3156018?v=glance&s=books&n=507846). Interesting stuff!

i've had mono recently and a few other illnesses in the past, but my periods have all still been on time-ish.

Yes, if your body is not healthy then it will not want to risk you getting pregnant.

BTW: Where did you get that icon from? It's cool.

I had a really nasty ear infection once and I was so ill my period didn't come. I've never had that happen again, but I guess if you're very sick it's possible.

i don't know about cold/flu etc affecting your cycle other than by a few days (which would generally be how long it takes until you start feeling better), but i had a UTI before and that delayed my cycle by about 7-10 days or so, until the infection was completely cleared up. after that, my cycle was a little off for about a month or so but then it went right back to being the 3rd weekend of the month.
