hello everyone
i have a few questions to ask regarding the topic i wrote as my title. but before i ask them, i have a little background information:
i first started birthcontrol with the nuvaring last year. it was all great, except it made my periods much heavier. after a few months, i called up my doctor and she said it was because the hormone levels were too low (note: i am far from being either underweight or overweight, if that makes a difference). so, i was put on yasmin. things are pretty good, except for the fact that it made my boobs bigger by one whole cup size (32C to a 32D, a very big deal to me). my periods are still heavy, and have been ever since i started it in january, i believe.

so, i need some advice. should i stay on the yasmin, or go back on the nuvaring, or should i switch to something else, and if so, what? and if i shouldn't switch, is there anything i can do to make my periods less heavy?

Honestly I'd ask your doctor. She's the one who can monitor your hormone levels and figure out what's best for you--the most anyone here will be able to do is give anecdotal evidence, which, if you have a specific problem, probably won't help you all that much.

*sigh* anecdotal advice, that is.

Well, the question is (I guess), how much do the heavier periods bother you?

If they bug you enough to switch to another b/c formulation that might help but might not (might also make you queasy/etc, some do that) then go for it--if it's worth doing something about to you, then by all means switch. If it's just a minor irritation to you, though, I'd wait a few more months and see if it evens out.

It all depends on how much it bothers you. *shrug* The last couple years I was on birth control I had very slight spotting in the middle of my cycle--a common side-effect. The doctor offered to change my prescription, but to me it wasn't enough of a problem to muck with things. However, if it had gotten to the point that it was seriously bugging me, I'd've switched in a heartbeat.

If larger breasts are a big deal to you and your period is heavy on either type of BC, then going back to the ring would eliminate one problem. Or you could try another pill entirely, andn see if you could knock out both problems. There are so many pills out there, that if you aren't happy it's ok to ask to try something else.

i really didn't like yasmin when i was on it. it made my boobs bigger as well, though not quite as significant a change as yours.

sorry, not really sure... maybe try something else?

i'm currently using condoms again, and tracking my cycle using the Toni Weschler Taking Control Of Your Fertility Method. I haven't really taken off any of the slight weight I did gain from being on the pill/etc, therefore my boobs are pretty much the same. I don't really mind it so much, but I'm sure if I put in more effort to losing weight, they'd go back to normal. maybe. I dunno.

I also was on alesse for a while, but it didn't sit so well with me after a while.

I have a feeling bc pills are just not the right things for me.
