pill causing heavier periods
Jul. 22nd, 2005 04:45 amhello everyone
i have a few questions to ask regarding the topic i wrote as my title. but before i ask them, i have a little background information:
i first started birthcontrol with the nuvaring last year. it was all great, except it made my periods much heavier. after a few months, i called up my doctor and she said it was because the hormone levels were too low (note: i am far from being either underweight or overweight, if that makes a difference). so, i was put on yasmin. things are pretty good, except for the fact that it made my boobs bigger by one whole cup size (32C to a 32D, a very big deal to me). my periods are still heavy, and have been ever since i started it in january, i believe.
so, i need some advice. should i stay on the yasmin, or go back on the nuvaring, or should i switch to something else, and if so, what? and if i shouldn't switch, is there anything i can do to make my periods less heavy?

Date: 2005-07-22 02:20 pm (UTC)If they bug you enough to switch to another b/c formulation that might help but might not (might also make you queasy/etc, some do that) then go for it--if it's worth doing something about to you, then by all means switch. If it's just a minor irritation to you, though, I'd wait a few more months and see if it evens out.
It all depends on how much it bothers you. *shrug* The last couple years I was on birth control I had very slight spotting in the middle of my cycle--a common side-effect. The doctor offered to change my prescription, but to me it wasn't enough of a problem to muck with things. However, if it had gotten to the point that it was seriously bugging me, I'd've switched in a heartbeat.

I have a feeling bc pills are just not the right things for me.
