I recommend trimming. Way less irritating and shaving can cause infections, or cuts and THEN infections. They have little gadgets meant for just this issue now, for about $10.

Ah, pubes. Another one of mother nature's jokes on us? I do both: trim and shave. Below the belly button, gotta go WITH the grain, but this often means shaving the same bits multiple times. There are several brands of anti-bumps shave gels, like Bikini Zone. That helps. And anti-bumps lotions for after. Otherwise, we're talkin' wax, electrolysis, laser hair removal...stuff I don't know abut you, but I can't afford.

Now, I have never heard that you need some pubic hair for being on your period? I don't see what that has to do with anything.

the pubic hair for your period is new to me also. i understand that pubic hair is intended for cushioning during sex, among other reasons, ie, catching stuff that could get inside, ie, the way eyelashes work to keep stuff out of your eyes, and it holds odors that make males randy or something.

yeah. that's the lowdown on pubes.

My gyno says that pubic hair is there for a reason (to help keep bacteria out of the vagina) so you should not shave it especially close to the vagina opening. Just a thought...

probably true. however, ive been shaving muh business (thats what my sister and i call it, i have no idea why :X) since i was 17, and ive only ever had a yeast infection, and that was because of trying to use tampons. apparently, that area's extra sensitive for me. but other than that, ive never, ever had a problem.

i do, however, let my hair grow in a little during my period. this is because when i shave i occasionally get a bit of razor burn, and i think the extra mess down there might make it get infected? i do clean the area more often when i have my period, but still...better safe, i say.

It completely depends on the person, since everyone's hair grows at different rates. I generally have the beginnings of stubble within 48 hours, but I know people who have stubble in 12 hours, and people who don't have stubble for a week. It really varies. How long it takes to get back to full growth similarly varied- I've never let mine grow back in completely since I started shaving years ago, but I would estimate based on the rate it grows, it would probably take me about two months. But it's different for everyone.

I've never heard that you ought to have pubic hair during your period, and I can't think of any reason why that would be. Lots of people shave often or wax or even get electrolysis or laser hair removal that permanently removes their hair, and there are no negative period-related consequences.

Try...

I have a "Finishing Touch" hair remover, $10.

XD I finished it too!

But in regards to the topic at hand, trim and don't shave. You can hurt yourself shaving, that and when it comes time for it to grow back in, it will be very irratated and you will regret it immesnely.

I've been shaving since I was 15 and have never had a problem in doing so. The very first time I remember it was a little itchy, but that didnt last.
