Hi everybody! My name is Michelle, 28, living in Houston, Texas. I have a question regarding an unusual period this month...

Usually, my period lasts about 3-4 days. Day 1 is medium/heavy flow, day 2 is very heavy, day 3 is medium and by day 4 it's either done or I'm spotting. This month, day 1 was light, day 2 was medium, and day 3 was very light spotting.

What do you suppose this means? I had been very stressed over a situation for a few weeks before this. Can stress have an impact on your period?

Thanks for any advice!

Stress can definately cause a late/early/extra heavy/extra light/non-existant period. Our bodies are so receptive, it's amazing how they respond to different situations!

Since yours doesn't seem to be too much different that usual, I'd guess that that is all it is. As always, if it keeps up being strange see a doctor, but it doesn't sound like you should be too worried.

And lucky you with your short periods ;)

Strange. . .

And then of course, there's the "Pregnancy Scare Catch 22" where you're so worried about getting your period, and worrying about it not coming, that the stress messes it up even more :O

As they often say in here, if you're worried, buy a pregnancy test. They're not too expensive, and they will probably set your mind at ease :)

Speaking from the standpoint of someone with a stress/anxiety disorder: I worried at a bunch of doctors about my Highly Irregular Period (I've been anywhere from two weeks early to four months late) and they said it was pretty common.
