im new here and i have an emergency
my boyfriend lives in chicago i see him once a month ussually and as you can imagine alot of sex happens that weekend. Im on birth control and am told to take it accordingly like skip some periods etc. becasue my periods are so heavy. i completely change that around and use it to avoid having my epriod the week im there. ( i know skipping "period" week and starting a new pack does nothng for pregnancy prevention, its ok we use condoms and yeah it probably is fucking up my ovaries) but now i have it set up so that when i see him this weekend i will not have my period.
two nights ago i forgot to take my pill
last night i feel asleep in front of the tv before i got up to take it
woke up thought about it imeadiately but had to pee first and... BLOOD.
so i toke two pills and ive had a fair amount of bleeding all day i plan on taking two tonight then tomarrow going back to one.
this MUST be gone by friday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ive heard that the egg dosnt get realesed until the second or third day is this true? does this mean that i dont have my period yet and willtaking the pills stop it from coming? also the blood dosnt smell like period blood, i know gross and maybe TMI but its another thing that amde me feel like i dont have it. so basically does anyone have any thoughts and feelings on this not happeneing on friday?
thanks a bunch guys <3

Date: 2005-09-11 03:24 am (UTC)however, if you do miss a day, you can certainly start breakthrough bleeding, which sounds like what happened to you there. I'm a little bit confused about what you're saying in terms of how many pills you're taking- you missed a day, so yesterday you took two? then today you should take ONE today, and one daily continuing after, as usual. if you take two today, that won't do anything but maybe make you more nauseous than anything.
and what's the problem with sex during your period, especially if you're using condoms anyway? it can still be quite enjoyable!
technically you are supposed to take the period week, but you're not going to be harmed too much by skipping it, as new prescriptions of bc are out now where you basically surpress menstruation except for four times a year (seasonale).
also another flaw in the logic you have here- if you are on the pill, you are preventing ovulation from occurring, therefore, there is no egg being released, even when you go on your period week. your body is tricked into thinking it has already released an egg when you are on the pill, and thus, when you stop taking them for the period week, you begin bleeding.
you might want to do some basic research on your reproductive health, and the ins and outs of your menstrual cycle, and how birth control works, so that you can better understand why these things are happening, and how to prevent pregnancy and take control of your fertility.
a great book is toni weschler's "taking control of your fertility". I highly recommend it.
