Kinda worried...
Sep. 17th, 2005 06:28 pmOkay. So, I have been REDICULOUSLY stressed/paranoid this month about becoming pregnant. There is absolutely no real reason. I have been on the NuvaRing since May, and I was on the patch for 2 months before that. I am inredibly faithful to the ring. It's never been out for long, never been in/out late or anything. PERFECT USE. However, I have been putting myself through HELL about the 1% chance, blah, blah, blah. (A lot of it has to do with my SUPER RELIOUS-CONSERVATIVE parents.) So, I've been convincing myself that I have symptoms, but I know I don't. I'm constipated and gassy (sorry if tmi) and am getting headaches, but also can't remember the last time I drank a decent amount of water.
Well...my period ended up coming on the Friday before the Sunday I was supposed to take it out! It started with just some brown sludge (scared the life out of me, thinking it was implantation bleeding) but that same day it got SOOOOO incredibly heavy with a lot of clotting. This lasted until about Thursday, with some watery spotting/ending on Friday.
Now, usually my period comes the Wednesday after I remove my ring...it came 5 days EARLY! WTF?!? How is this possible when I've been on b/c for some time? Does the fact that I'm living with 4 other women have anything to do with this? I had a nasty head cold about 2 weeks ago and took loads of vitamins, but nothing else. SHOULD I BE WORRIED? My best friend think my body just brought it on early to reassure me. Ya think? Has anyone esle experienced early periods while faithfully on b/c for a while??
All insight would be great, I just need some reassurance.
Thank you bunches!

Date: 2005-09-18 03:31 am (UTC)if you are so worried about getting pregnant, why not use contraceptive foam (encare, at the pharmacy) or condoms, plus the ring? it will reduce your risk of pregnancy from less than 1% to zero. and then even you won't be able to have anything to worry about. for people who are very concerned about pregnancy, 2 methods of birth control is definitely the best way to go.
to me, anyone who comes around asking "i just got my period - SHOULD I BE WORRIED ABOUT BEING PREGNANT!?!" definitely ought to consider two methods. ;-) try to stay calm. i've definitely been in your shoes and i promise, you will be OK and be able to have worry-free sex some day...

A University Health Center would have all sorts of things. As I understand it, sponges, foams and the like are over the counter and sold in drug stores.
Good luck!
