how much blood is too much blood?

since I got the Mooncup four months ago, I've been nicely able to monitor my menstrual flow, or more specifically, the amount of it. usually I bleed quite a lot on the first two days, and the rest four or five days I have very light flow.

however, my current period is slightly making me worried. I started on saturday (the day before yesterday) and only had very light spotting. yesterday the real thing started, so to speak. I bled a full cup in less than three hours throughout the day. I bled a full cup during the night (got up at 5 to check, and it was already leaking), emptied it, and now it's 8.30 am and I just emptied it again, it was full. I don't think I've ever bled THIS much.

in case it's important, I'm 25, not sexually active, not on any form of birth control and I currently have a very nasty cold that's making me wish I had access to a guillotine. I'm also feeling very weak and faint, but that's probably more due to the illness than my period...

should I be worried though?

could be anemia, or something? it seems like an abnormal amount of blood, especially if your previous periods haven't been so severe. i'd definitely suggest checking in with your doc.

no medications, but i stuff myself with insanely high quantities of garlic, onion, vitamin C and any kind of herbal tea I come across. maybe there was something in the teas that made my flow like that... who knows.

Vitamin C can increase your flow, so that might be it.
