My period's winding down (amazed that I got it with all the stress this month, but the pill will do that!), and I've consequently lost about four pounds of water weight (and a good two pants sizes). I can't believe how much my entire body's massacred every time I have my period, I hate it!
On a related note- my ob/gyn (yes, the one I hate and need to get rid of) suggested trying to lose my fluff (as I call it. I'm female. I'm fluffy.) as a last-ditch effort to lessen my PMS-hell. Last-ditch because I'm 5'4" and 134-130 depending on the time of the month, so I don't have that much to lose- about 5-10 pounds- so it probably won't do anything aside from give me an excuse to buy a new belt. But anyways... I was wondering if anyone could recommend an active lj community centered around losing weight and exercising or dieting or something in that area in a healthy manner (ie not promoting EDs or long-term fasting or plastic surgery or magic ferret fur pills or anything).
Thanks!

I've heard good things about [livejournal.com profile] fanaticize. This community randomly groups participants into teams who earn a point each time a member meets her/his fitness goal. The rules are cleverly designed so that anyone can participate at a level that's comfortable for them.

Although, discussion of weight, per se, is strictly prohibited. I've had friends get a lot out of the group.

hey- i'm the same height, and about the same weight, with the same issues over water weight gain and stuff.

apparently physical activity does help and stuff, and is better than to just jump to diuretics. Hrmm! You've got me thinking! I want to lose some weight for this reason now too!

what? you are hardley overweight.
i'm 5'3 and LAST winter i was at least 140....
i am now 120. i didnt have much to lose. i fasn't FAT. i was just chubbier. anyway... my doctor never would suggest to lose weight.
you are in a perfectly healthy range. i felt great at that weight and i feel great at this one too!
anyway, it may help you.. it may not. i can't believe your dr would suggest such a small weightloss.. especially since you're normal.
i would just exercise. it helps with cramps too.. drink a ton of water. that helped me lose what i did.

i think the point is- she's not "overweight" but she could probably lower her BMI with some more exercise/healthy eating which might help her symptoms of water-weight gain stay in check, instead of having the doc prescribe her diuretics.
