Oct. 15th, 2005 05:31 pmHi, I just joined, and have a question that I've been looking for the right place to ask. It's a little embarassing, but I'd figure that's not even in your vocabulary.
I've had my period since I was 10 and don't exactly remember when this started, but very soon after. Around days 3-7 I get this very weird burning feeling in my butt every time I urinate, which usually gets more and more painful as the days progress. Does anyone else get this? Know what I can do?
I noticed once when I was on a beach vacation and I used tampons that it didn't happen, but I really hate using tampons, so is there an alternative?

Date: 2005-10-15 09:54 pm (UTC)You might consider switching to cloth pads (like the luna pad), or a menstrual cup, like the divacup or the keeper. At very least, consider switching from coventional cotton pads to perhaps organic cotton pads.
I used to have the same issue you describe. Turns out I am sensitive to the chemically treated cotton in conventional pads. After a few days of constant contact, the sinsitive skin on my vulva area would get inflamed and itchy, almost like it was having a minor allergic reaction.
The symptoms stopped when I started using organic, unbleached pads.
