i'm so sorry for this being such a silly question~ ;-;

but since my period started 5 years ago,
i would have a sticky, wet fluid (sometimes during my period, often at random times during the month) in my underwear. i would wake up, the bottom arena feeling really wet, go to the bathroom to check, and a thick, clear fluid would be sticking. i often have to wash my underwear, and use wipes, aiy. i've also wondered if it were possible to minimize this excretion (can it be controlled?)

is this what is referred to as "cum"? (what is cum exactly, because i have no idea ^^!) or is it an indicator of hormonal changes before your period, or... ?

"Cum" is semen.
What you have is vaginal discharge. It is normal. Pantiliners will help keep your underwear dry.

Not necessarily. Many women say they're dicharge during sex at orgasm is cum as well. I know not all women experience it, but some do have a thicker discharge when orgasming or an added amount of lubrication. I have heard people refer to that as 'cum' as well.

Just a thought...

Vaginal discharge helps keep your vagina clean, healthy, and lubricated. It is a completely normal function of a healthy vagina! Different people experience different amount of discharge, and the consistancy, colour, amount, and even smell will change throughout your cycle. Generally, discharge is thicker and whiter around the time of ovulation. If you find its a problem, like the previous commenter said, you can use panty liners. If you keep an eye on your cycle and when you get the most discharge, you should be able to work out when you're more likely to need liners.

it's just normal discharge...technically it's cervixal mucus (yep, like the mucus in your nose but from your girly parts, hehe). you may notice it having an egg-white like consistency when you are ovulating, and be more clumpy or thick at other times of the month. it's normal and some women have more of it than others. :) i personally tend to have quite a bit, always have.

if you start paying close attention, you'll notice a buildup from slighly sticky to creamy to very wet and elastic stuff that's a bit like egg whites. The egg white stretchy stuff is very hospitable to sperm and means you're probably ovulating. You'll also probably find that your period will come a fairly consistent number of days after this egg white stuff, even if your total cycle length isn't that regular.

I never noticed the clear stretchy mucous during my period until I started using a cup, but with a cup, you can see everything, and there is definitely some gelatinous mucous mixed with my blood. However, IF you ovulated, you're not fertile during your period.

oh, yeah, your period probably comes about 2 weeks after the egg white stuff.
