I saw that there was just another question like mine..

I am on my second week of active pills for Yasmin. My white ones (where I get my period.. i don't know what to call them??) fall RIGHT on my vacation/christmas break. Can I take the white row ahead of time, say as soon as I finish my current yellow row (this Saturday). I don't know how harmful it is, but I would much rather have my period next week than over Christmas/a Las Vegas vacation!

I am also on Yasmin. Instead of messing with the order of your pills you can simply prevent getting your period this month by skipping your week of placebos and starting a new pack pack of pills instead. If you try to change the order of your pills it could mess up your schedule and result in negative side effects such as break through bleeding. I have skipped periods before on Yasmin and never had any problems. Skipping periods was even endorsed by my doctor.

Mine too -- she said it was fine to skip every other one, even. I don't usually because I don't really mind it that much and frankly, I couldn't remember whether I'd skipped last month's or had it. I did skip the month of our wedding and the month of our honeymoon, I think, but that's been about it. It worked fine for me though.

It was recommended to me to reduce problems that comes with periods such as anemia. For about a year or two I followed the advice and only had 6 periods a year, but I stopped doing it because it makes my prescription run out faster and therefore costs more in the long run.

Like the other poster said, don't mess with the order. The white, inactive pills, are the placebo pills, and as you probably know, they don't contain any hormones. Here's the deal with skipping pills...you don't have to take the placebo pills at all, but you have to take every single one of your active pills in the right order. Stopping the active pills and taking the placebos in the middle of the pack is the same as skipping a week in the middle of your pack; you will probably have spotting which may or may not be on the same level as a period, but it WILL compromise your protection. I suggest doing exactly what the other poster said; skip your placebo pills, and start the next pack of Yasmin as soon as you finish you active pills in this pack. You might be able to skip your period that way.

FWIW, I used to take Yasmin, and loved it. However, I had mixed results in skipping my period; sometimes I worked like a charm, sometimes it didn't, and sometimes I skipped my period but had lots of spotting the following month. Every woman is different, and skipping may or may not work for you, but it's certainly worth trying it! Yasmin is a monophasic pill (meaning that every pill has the same dose of hormones throughout the month), and monophasic pills are the easiest to skip with. Good luck to you!
