okay. my period is seriously messed up, and i just need to vent and have some people tell me that i'm mildly normal.

for a year, my cycle was thirty days. then in august, my boyfriend and i broke up, and i was about 45 days and completely freaked out about it. i didn't get it again until october 9th.

i haven't got it since october 9th. seriously. what is up? there's really no way i can be pregnant, as my boyfriend and i have never had vaginal intercourse. (and i can't imagine what i'll be like when we do. hello, paranoia.) in november, i did have a few days where i had to wear panty-liners due to a brown dischargey type of thing that usually happens AFTER i get my period. it lasted about four days and came around the time when my period would have come if it were actually there. anyone ever get that?

also, i'm only seventeen. have been pretty stressed lately, which is the problem. i'm assuming. i was just wondering if anyone had any other advice or tips as to what it may be. i feel like my hormones are completely screwed up at this point. i've had cramps throughout the day but still, no period, and i don't even remember how i felt before i got my last period because it's been so long.

you can still be pregnant even if he hasn't been in you. i would take a pregnancy test.

you dont say how long you've had your period, but sometimes it takes a few years to settle down when you're young. also stress can throw your cycle out of whack

the brown discharge might have been your period - you're best off talking to your doctor to make sure there's nothing wrong.

you dont say what type of sexual activity you've had, or whether it was protected, so a pregnancy test might give you peace of mind (bear in mind the only true negative is your period)

Exactly, even if your cycle is regular when you're young, it's still not regular, if that makes any sense. My period was always regular, but around when I was 19, it started to become irregular in when it came and flow, etc.

I would not say that a true negative is your period, though. There have been cases where women have had their periods throughout their pregnancies.

Yeah, but that's a light, spotting sort of discharge. A true period sheds all the lining of your uterus (which usually leads to heavier bleeding) and there's no way a fetus could survive that.

You could still be pregnant. He semen got on your vulva, it could get inside and get you pregnant.

I personally just think it's stress, especially since your last period had a cycle of 45 days. I advise taking a pregnancy test anyway, because that's still a possibility and it could ease your mind.

If you don't like your period being irregular, talk to your doctor about it. It might be something, or it might not be.

yeah. i think i may take one just to make myself feel better. if we were fooling around without undergarments, he was wearing a condom, anyway.

and i am going to the gyno after this. i need something to regulate this wacky cycle.

hey, I don't think you're pregnant, but I think seeing your doc to have a urine test to make sure wouldn't hurt anyone. While you're there you can maybe see about hormonal birth control options to get you on a regular pattern, but really, I don't think you have anything to worry about, as stress can increase the length of your period. Have there been any other factors in the last couple of months, such as weight loss, or increase in activity, etc? These things can affect your cycle as well.

You're probably fine, but you should probably see your doctor about it to make sure.
