Well, I kind of came to this in a round about way (saw it mentioned on sextips community) but actually I've recently come by a concern with my period, sort of.

Actually I've been "bleeding" for the past two weeks approximately. It's not really bleeding, it's more like fairly continous spotting, somewhat of an off color red/brownish. I was worrying about it a lot until my boyfriend was actually sweet enough to look it up for me, and it seems like it just happens sometimes, usually goes away, often "reseting" with the next period. But I was wondering if anyone else here has had this happen and could give me some personal experience advice.

It's happened to me before, but it's usually because I'm changing birth control (it happened for about an entire cycle when I started the patch, then for about a week when I switched to mircette) it was irritating, but not really enough to make sex icky, so I didn't mind it TOO much.

I'm anti-med to a point, but I'm more anti-baby at the moment.

Probably wouldn't hurt to put a call in to the doctor. They'd be able to offer some advice even without a visit (although I'm sure they'll reccomend one)

If it makes any difference I was on b/c pills on and off for five or six years and currently am nearly halfway through a (so far) healthy pregnancy. Don't let worries about children keep you from the Pill if that's the option you feel is best for you...I went off it in the end simply because I didn't want the hormones in my body anymore for many reasons, so I can understand that concern!

If you're having breakthrough bleeding quite consistently and irregular cycles you might well want to see a doctor to make sure that everything is okay. I say this only because conditions like PCOS (polycystic ovaries) can cause very irregular cycles and PCOS in particular *can* affect your likelihood of conceiving, as can thyroid problems, which can also throw your cycle out of whack. Spotting can be perfectly normal but long-term spotting seems like it might be indicative of a larger health issue to me and is worth checking out for your peace of mind, if nothing else!

It's called spotting.

It happens. It's fairly normal.
