Let me start off by saying i am posting for my roomie, she has no lj and im part of the sexttips community and found this journal on the userinfo.

So she is going on a week late and has had unprotected sex in the past couple of weeks( ive told her it was dangerous). Anyways she is showing signs pointing to pregnancy (lactating, Major cravings, weight gain, nausea in the AM and mood swings) she has taken two preg. tests and both have shown negative.

The problem is the last unprotected encounter was just this past saturday 12/17 so we think its way too early for her to be showing those signs. She has also had unprotected sex about two months ago and has had two cycles since, could she have two cycles while being prego? has this happened to any of you? could she be showing signs with just a weeks amount of time? and what is the best preg. test for her to take?

than for any help ladies its greatly appreciated.

I don't know about the lactation, but I showed the other signs of pregnancy within the first week, yes.

(try [livejournal.com profile] am_i_pregnant - they're helpful and knowlegeable)

it takes 10-14 days for the fertilised egg to implant into the uterus (ie pregnancy). so your friend wouldnt know if she was pregnant or not yet. (the symptoms could be a lot of things, not just pregnancy)

however, emergency contraception is effective within 120 hours of sex, so she might still be in time for that.

otherwise, she'll have to wait for 14 days after the sex, and then she can take a pregnancy test (use the first pee of the day).

have you suggested your friend sees her doctor about birth control (or at least uses condoms)?

it's harder for her to support a child/have an abortion.

What about Planned Parenthood?

I'm on the generic of Mircette (insurance doesn't cover it and I had a "falling out" with Planned Parenthood) so from the pharmacy it's about $26 a month. I can save that much by not buying a latte in the morning...

Definitely time to get to the doctor to do a blood test/etc to find out for sure.

With my first child I had the symptoms you're describing before a test showed up positive, so yes, it is possible, but I've been told what I did is pretty unlikely.

As for periods after pregnancy, have the periods been normal? Or were they more or less just a heavy spotting? The first sometimes 3-4 months can sometimes have what they call breakthrough bleeding where it seems like a period, but when you think back, there is something about it that isn't quite like a normal period (although I have known people that didn't find out they were pregnant till they were several months along because the bleeding seemed like their normal period) so it's really hard to say.

Is there a planned parenthood in your area? They will do birth control pills, exams and pregnancy tests and charge (or not charge) based on income.

Best of luck to her!
