i think it's normal. i do it too. right before i have my period i stock up on water bottles so i can drink throughout the day. water is good, so even if it isnt "normal", its still good for you.
It's normal if it's normal for you. Some women do get slightly dehydrated before their periods. One of the things that may be contributing to your excessive thirst, is the retaining of fluids (I know that sounds backwards, but it's true!). You may want to try REALLY limiting (or abolishing) high-sodium foods during your premenstrual week. This can reduce the amount of water you retain, making you feel less dehydrated. No more chips for you! :)
