Mar. 11th, 2006 07:12 pmI was wondering what this means.. If anyone can tell me because I have never had this happen to me before.
This month the first day I thought I was on my period and it just happend to be spotting, or so I am assuming because I didn't have anything else for another day, when I did get my period, it was very light, and very dark, almost brown.
Now I don't know if this has any relevence or not, once and a while I will get the really dark blood, but it is usualy at the end of my period. I also thought I might have been pregnant because I have never spotted, in my memory anyways, ever.
I did kind of mess my bc up a bit this month, so that could be the reason, but I'm not sure. I looked through the memories, well skimmed through them and didn't see anything, I would really appreciate any answers. Thanks.

Date: 2006-03-12 04:09 am (UTC)I just wanted to say to the OP though, that spotting doesn't automatically mean pregnancy, it can happen for a lot of different reasons.

Date: 2006-03-12 07:28 pm (UTC)In terms of the spotting that can certainly be related to your taking pills late as you described below - your periods can still be light, as long as there's enough to fill a tampon it's generally considered a normal period and not implantation bleeding. If you check your pill pamphlet you'll see that you can miss a period on hormonal birth control.
In my opinion what you've done is lower your protection this month from perfect use at 99%+ to typical use which is around 92-95%, not including any backup protection you used.
If you're concerned there's nothing wrong with taking a home pregnancy test - it's still kind of difficult for us to tell you what's going on based on the information given.

Date: 2006-03-12 03:33 pm (UTC)spotting can be caused by errors in taking your bc, or pregnancy, or it could be that nothing is wrong whatsoever.
to give any further advice you'd need to give more information. how exactly did you mess up your bc? did you have intercourse without any other form of contraception this month? when was it in relation to this cycle and you "messing up"? there are a lot of factors to investigate.

Date: 2006-03-12 07:21 pm (UTC)I am not completly sure when in relation to the unprotected sex and taking the late pill I don't think it was within a week, but again I am not sure.
I have had late periods before, and by late I mean that it didn't start the exact day it was supposed to, that actually happens all the time.
Now I kind of figured that the color of the blood being very dark ment that it was old. But would that mean it could be from implantation?/ how long does it take for a it to implant in the uterus? (I am in child development and I just did a whole thing on this, I should know this.) I guess my question is why is it that color when I didn't really have my period?
Thanks.

Date: 2006-03-13 03:19 am (UTC)for instance if your spotting was close to one of the days you took your pill late, the lack of hormones may have started menstruation and then when you took your pill again it stopped. that would explain there being so little blood. there could be medical reasons also.
if it were me i would not be that worried. if you do not have a normal period on time you may want to take a test or if this occurs again for seemingly no reason you may want to go to the doctor to be sure there isn't something medical going on.
this post seems kinda jumbled up... i hope you made some sense out of it lol :)
