Instead

I bought a box of Instead, the disposable menstrual cups you can get at most drug stores. I thought I would give it a try because I would like to move away from tampons (so sick of dry cotton). If this works out, I'll switch to a reusable method. I do have concerns about the plastic ring business, because my only experience with a female condom was a disaster for all involved. Does anyone have some advise about this?

Insteads are pretty different from the reusable kinds of cups that are available.

There's a lot of information in [livejournal.com profile] menstrual_cups

I don't know about Instead, I was toying with the idea, but then the Mother's Market near me started carrying the Diva Cup, and I bought that instead. I don't know if it speaks for all menstrual cups everywhere, but I am so goshdarn happy with it, I have now joined the bandwagon of enjoying my period rather than dreading it.

I hope they work well. And the group that is recommended above sounds like a good place to compare.

I had a lot of trouble with Instead, because they (like the female condom) are very picky about being placed "just so" with the cervix, unlike most menstrual cups. Give them a try, but if they don't work out, don't give up on the idea of a divacup or Keeper! I'm pretty sure both have money-back guarantees (I know the diva does), so give them a try, too!

I've been using Instead cups for a while now, and I absolutely love them. It all depends on your body though, they don't fit my roommate at all. She just started using the Keeper this month though and loves it.

IAWTAC

I've been using the Instead cups for a couple years and I LOVE them. I have converted many women to them. I have a tilted uterus and while insertion and removal can be a little tricky, I have never really had a problem with them. I love that I can have clean sex on my period. I have a diaprhagm tho and since they sit exactly the same way, its never been a concern for me for insertion.
