ok....idk if im over reacting or not but idk wat to do so someone please help! i had a tampon in before and when i took it out i heard it like rip and there was a little chunk of it missing. and i immediatly started freaking out bc i knew that meant it was stuck up there....and if u leave a tampon in too long u can get TSS and die! and i dont want to die! so i got over my weird fear of sticking my own fingers up there and stuck one up there looking for it and i couldnt find it. so i figured id just not worry about it for a while and see if my period just liek pushed it out. so in the mean time i went for a nice long walk with my friend hoping that might push it out as well. but when i got home and went to the bathroom, nothing. so i again stuck my finger up there lookin for it and came out with nothing but a disgusting bloody finger(sorry if this is gross but its easier to just say it blunlty) but anyway its been liek 7 hours since i put the tampon in and the rule of thumb is never to leave it in for more then 8 so anyway my point it....1.) could u get tss from just a little piece of a tampon being left up there and 2.) if so, how should i go about getting it out?! maybe im just not putting my finger up there enough??? ew it feels really effing weird putting my finger in there too. idk someone please help!!!!

Date: 2006-03-31 10:02 pm (UTC)Plus, the OP is, what seems simply by her post, grossed out by putting her fingers in her vagina, so a cup wouldn't work for her.

Date: 2006-03-30 11:31 pm (UTC)i would suggest calling your doctor and explaning the situation. they may want you to go to an emergency room or an urgent care center so a doctor can find the piece of tampon and pull it out.
best way to try and get it out on your own:
squat down (in a shower or over the toilet works). bear down (the muscles you use to go poo but "forward" a little bit if that makes any sense) and put a finger in to try and find it. you might try getting two fingers in your vagina...this will help you "grab" the tampon if you can find it. don't be afraid to get blood on you, it washes off and it's more important that you get the tampon out.
best of luck to you. like galadriel said, you might try getting a menstrual cup...they're alot safer and cheaper in the long run. :)

Date: 2006-03-30 11:41 pm (UTC)i have a divacup. i had a keeper but devloped a slight allergy to the rubber so i got a divacup instead.
it actually goes in like a tampon, it's held in place by your PC muscles, but it's not absorbent, it simply collects your menstrual fluid, so it's MUCH more vagina friendly. when i used tampons, i always felt like my puss was wrecked and dried by the end of the week, had no such problem with the cup.
anyway, i don't use anything now, as i have a mirena IUD and don't get my period anymore, but if when i start having periods again, i'll go right back to the cup. i'd never use a tampon again.

Date: 2006-03-31 10:04 pm (UTC)Like I said in a comment above, the OP seems to be grossed out by putting her fingers in her vagina. If she gets over it, or is simply scared by this tampon experience, she can use one..but if she's freaking out now, I don't think it'll work for her. :/
Tampons aren't that great to begin with.

Date: 2006-03-31 01:49 am (UTC)One time I went to the bathroom and didn't think I had a tampon in and put in another. Turns out I did have one in. But I didn't figure that out until a few days later.
That was years ago and I'm perfectly fine.
