Hmmmmmmmm...let's see what you all think about this...I have an appt in about a month, but would like some ideas about what you think might be going on.

I am 36 years old....have been taking birth control pills since I was 15. I stopped for 6 months before I got pregnant and 8 months after so I could nurse. (didn't have to, just did) So that is pretty much constant birth control use for 21 years, minus the 14 months mentioned above.

Okay, so I decided that I no longer NEED to take birth control. My husband and I are not very active, and can certainly use something else as needed. So when I ran out last month, I just didn't get any more. So about two weeks have passed without my taking it.

WOW! IT feels as if my ovaries are performing the macarena. My breasts/nipples are SORE! REALLY SORE. Like if you pinched one, I would be forced to punch you right in the nose.

My lower stomach/ovary area feels tender through and through, like if someone mashed on me, I would be forced to kick them into the next room, out of pure, animal impulse.

When I sit, there is much pressure/pulling/moving around in the ovary area.

One more thing---I had taken the same brand/strength of birth control for most of those 21 years, last year I began to experience breakthrough bleeding, so they changed the pill I was taking. SInce then, I have not really had a period, just some bloating around my time of the month. No period was fine with me.

SO, here are my questions:
WHY am I feeling so weird?
Is it because for all this time, nothing was going on in the ovaries and now they have SPRUNG back to life with a vengeance?
I also feel kind of sad. Would that be normal?

Give me your thoughts, please.
Aimee

spell when I was just off the pill when I was in a funk. I just don't recall the boob tenderness.

Your hormones are just in limbo.

I think you probably need to give it some time

why put an unneeded drug into your system? Learn what it is to be free of such things and get reaquainted with your body.

It sounds like your body is having a rough time getting its sea legs. After so many years artificially regulating your hormone levels it's going to take some time to figure out what the natural rhythm should be.

All the symptoms you describe are ones I've been dealing with from years and years of NOT being on hbc, especially the abdominal pain. My doctor once explained to me that sometimes when an egg is released the bursting follicle will bleed a little bit. Since blood is an irritant it can cause some pain or tenderness in the abdomen.

Give it a few cycles. Try an over-the-counter or home remedy for the discomfort. If it worsens or doesn't seem to let up at all it's time to call your OB/GYN.

BCP supress ovulation. Your ovaries are now working meaning you're going to have more mood swings, sore breasts, and all the fun things that come along with being a woman. :-(
