I saw that there was a post made about 5 years ago about sea sponges I hope it's okay to post about them again.
I've been using natracare %100 cotton but wanted to use something less wasteful. A friend told me about sea sponges but had never used them. I don't know anyone who does. Any feedbeack would be great. what brands do you like. How do you tackle changing them in public? How do you wash them? Do they leak often? any info would be greatly appreciated.

thanks, Lisa

I tried and disliked them. I have been using cups for 5 years now and know my flow - not all that much, actually, and very little blood, mostly endometrium. I had a hard time washing the not-so-liquid stuff out of the sponges. It was quite annoying and disgusting, as things were not smell-free by the time I got home. Also, when I sneezed or otherwise made certain movements I either leaked or otherwise felt "weird", like with a totally soaked tampon.
I guess I'd still use them if I had to (i.e. if there were no tampons), but overall the cup (I've had all three "major" ones and am sticking with the Mooncup) is a much more acceptable option for me. Also, much less wasteful.
