Well, my period should have gotten here earlier this week. This morning, I rather pissily asked mother nature what she was waiting on. Twenty Seconds later, the doorbell rang, and it was the postman with my entire stash of Mimi's Dreams Pads from the wonderful jinxgoddess. The orange/black halloween kitty one on the top far left is my first swap pad. I was lucky enough to get paired with the wonderful creator of Punky's Pads.

Date: 2006-10-04 07:16 pm (UTC)1) rinse them out in sink, put immediately into a soak pot. I have a shoebox size rubbermaid right now, until I can afford one of those nice stoneware jars. I just put plain water in, about 5 cups. I didn't add soap b/c one of the ladies on here told me that her plants love the water, because it is full of minerals like iron, etc.
2) change water every day. I put one of those anti-odor air fresheners in the cabinet with it, but didn't really need it.
3) When you are almost ready to wash, rinse out again and put in some clean h2o with some oxyclean (I use oxyclean free). Soak a few hours, rinse and repeat if needed.
Put in wash, use no fabric softener as it messes with absorbency. I just used the arm and hammer baking soda detergent. I didn't do it, but one of the ladies said that a downy ball with vinegar in it helps too.
wash. Check for stains, if you care about those.
If ready to dry, either hang dry or dry in dryer.
They are surprisingly easy to take care of, much more comfortable to wear. I'll never go back to disposables.
With routine care, horrifying shouldn't be somthing you have to worry about at all.
