okay, so here is my issue: i just recently started BC (about 3 weeks ago) and this is my first period on it. I am using orthotricyclen-lo and when i got it the doctor told me not to bother waiting for my next period and to just start that day (a friday). well, my normal period would have come 2 weeks from then, so last week, only the BC stopped it and yesterday my period started... kinda. it's the lightest its ever been- pretty much nothing in fact- and im basically just wasting tampons on it because i dont want to go without anything and.. i dont know, im not in the mood to use a pad? anyways, any reasons why it may be so light? i have had sex, but i waited the week for the BC to be active and because my boyfriend and i are just starting except for one of the times it hasnt lasted very long. so yeah... answers? oh, and we have always used a condom.

it sounds like your body is just adjusting to the BC.... They say it can take up to 3-4 months on the pill. Also some people get a much lighter flow than without BC.

One of the ways hormonal birth control works is by thinning the lining of your uterus - which is what your period actually is - so it's normal to have lighter periods on HBC. Also it's really common to have a very light period your first month on a new brand/method or skip it altogether.
