Dear Menstrual Hutters,

Hi. So, I've never had an issue with bad smells coming from my crotch, but when I woke up this morning the smell was WEIRD and STRONG -- I can't really describe it -- but it was more intense than the usual "after sex smell."

My boyfriend and I had sex last night and again this morning, and it was while we were having sex this morning that I first noticed it -- and we joked about it, because what can you do? But. Thank God we have a really open relationship and can make light of that kind of thing. Anyway, We have sex on a regular basis so I don't understand where the issue is "coming" from, so to speak.

My point to this whole post was to see if any of you have suggestions on how to get rid of it and what may be the cause of it. I've had yeast & bladder infections before and I know that's not what it is. My period isn't due for 2 weeks...I scanned the memories section quickly but couldn't find anything relating to such topic. I'd like to get it taken care of before I see him tonight, or at least be able to give some sort of explanation.

probly seeing an OB/GYN would be the best bet. Smells usually mean infection, though it may not be a yeast infection (which you sound familiar with) and you may need a round of antibiotics or something (which is problematic in and of itself).

There's not a whole lot of advice from me unless its known what it is.

Is the odor "fishy"? If so, it might be bacterial vaginosis.
In fact, in might be that anyway. I recommend going to the gyno to get it checked out, just to be on the safe side.

Did you shower after having sex? If I don't shower and let it sit in there all night I have serious fish funk in the morning just from the semen and my discharge mixing and sitting. it was NOT BV for me (as I was tested) it was just the reaction between the two.

Go to the Ob/GYN, it's probably bacterial vaginosis. It sounds WAY WORSE than it is. Also its one of those things you just kinda get, not a STI or anything so don't worry. A few days of meds and it clears up.

Echoing that it could be a bacterial infection. Nothing horrible, but definitely something you need a proper diagnosis and treatment for.
