types of blood?

so i started my period today. usually the day of my first period i feel the blood moving through before it ever hits my underwear or legs. but i still want to check because sometimes it's just fluid. so this time i checked and found out that  instead of the usual brownish small bits of blood, it was black and looked like dirt.

does this signify anything?

what exactly do the different types of blood colors mean?

brownish almost no life in blood at the start of what I call my "fake broken" as blood that didn't make it out the previous month...it is like the period crew forwoman says "okay troops we are done for this cycle and of you are not on the bus in 5 minutes you are on your own.".

I know this doesn't likely answer you question...it is just the way I look at that aspect of my blood letting.

If the blood isn't moving fast enough it sits around for a bit and darkens until it is expelled. My periods we all very dark in colour until I went on the pill. It confused the hell out of me when I got my first period.
