Using tampons during a yeast infection
Dec. 8th, 2007 08:40 pmI'm currently taking antibiotics to treat a sinus infection. These knock down the effectiveness of my birth control pills, so of course I immediately got my period. On top of that, the antibiotics also led to a yeast infection.
I have a standing prescription for the oral anti-fungal Diflucan, which I took today, so that should clear out the YI in 2-3 days. My question is whether it's safe to use tampons until then, or if these will make the YI more persistent. The sites I've looked at have stated that you shouldn't use tampons if treating YIs with vaginal suppositories (since they absorb the medication), but don't address using them with an oral treatment.
