Hey. So my friends are starting this company kalily. it's all about empowering young girls at the time of their first period. I dunno. thought it was pretty cool. What do you guys think?

I like it! :) You should have alternatives to pads and tampons offered in your giftbox -- washable pads and divacups? If they had that, I'd totally get it for my daughter if I had one.
Awesome idea!

I agree. At this point I probably wont buy one for my daughter, since you only have the option of disposables. But a Diva Cup and a bunch of cloth pads in that kit would be amazing!

I couldn't tell if they did this, but a good idea would be to offer different types of packages. When I got my period at 10, it was very heavy and very long from the start, so the little health class tampons and pads were like ludicrous for me. An option for people with heavy periods would be good too.

I don't like the fact that the "celebrate" product packages are so damn expensive. AND they are selling products like TAMPAX. What, is the website subsidized by Proctor and Gamble or something? I can think of a lot more productive and supportive ways to influence young women when they are starting their period--AND it wouldn't cost any money, NOR would it promote the purchasing of products that have NOTHING to do with their emotional and mental well being. The mobile text messages are cool, but $71 a month? How about offering the service for FREE? I thought that they are trying to revolutionize TRADITION. Looks like they are trying to make a profit, not change the way young women perceive their journey into womanhood. We as a society take WAY TOO MUCH advantage of that age group already--disgusting and inexcusable to turn a biological function into a way to make money for a select few. THAT is NOT how you attempt to change perceptions. It is how to take a woman's rite of passage away from her and turn it into some capitalistic machine.

I hate that site. The more I am thinking about it the angrier I am getting. The creators should be ashamed. We should be mentoring our young women ourselves-not leaving it to some profit making company. Who or what does Kalily REALLY care about?

I agree with emicaja. What is the message Kalily is trying to send? What is their actual goal? Seems to me like it's to support male-driven corporations that disregard the real needs of real women.
