I just started Nortrel two months ago, and I'm concerned. I never got my period after finishing the first pack of pills, and now, halfway through the second, have been really nauseated in the morning, crampy (like I was going to get my period), and have had a lot of spotting, to which I've been wearing a pad and changing it twice a day. Is this normal, or is there a problem?

It very well might be normal. It's entirely possible to skip a first period on a new brand of pills (which Nortrel are you on? there are a few.), and breakthrough bleeding or spotting can also be a normal side effect while your body adjusts.

Did you take all your pills and take them at the same time each day? Did you wait the correct amount of time before having sex without a condom?

Then it's likely just a fluke and normal. If you miss a second period check in with your doctor (your pill pamphlet will say this); you may need to switch brands.
