When going onto hormonal birth control how long does it take for the innitial side-effects to subside? This particular kind (which the spelling of it escapes me) has been a good fit in the past. I'm four days in. I've heard two weeks and I've heard that it takes a whole month for things to start getting better before needing to consider switching to something else. It isn't that bad and I have a few other contributing factors adding to me feeling this way, I've been mildly nauseated. I've gotten a headache once out of the four days I have been on it and just a tiny bit dizzy- not enough to stop me from doing anything- just enough to make me feel like crap.

Partially, it depends on how bad the side effects are and how willing you are to live with them. But yeah, it can take 2-4 weeks for birth control side effects to wear off. If it gets to the point where you are unwilling to deal with the side effects, head back into your doctor to have a chat.

in my experience, the doctor usually advises to wait until you get through one full month, unless it's really severe. i suppose the exact amount of time depends on the person.
