Jun. 15th, 2002 04:23 pmive got another possible crisis. i havent had a period since april 20th. thats like 50-some odd days. the thing is, ive only recently started to chart my period and figure out how many days in-between, so i really dont know whats exactly normal for me. in addition, ive been stressed out, and ive also started a diet in the past couple of months, and i know those can affect the hormonal cycle and stuff. is this cause for concern?
im just stressing about it because i have to go see my boyfriend in 28 days, (long distance ltmr, if you wondered), and i have to take birth control (i got the pills) the day of my period and stuff..but what if it doesnt come!?!?!?!
i asked if i could just take the bc without waiting for it in the birth control community and i got two different answers, so i really dunno. id want to play it safe, but i ... im just worried its not going to come. this broad i know was like retaining her period or something for two months, so i guess thats a possibility (???) but um, its not gonna help with the bc stuff.
i only see my boyfriend once a year.
the whole purpose of bcp was for that visit.
condoms wont work for us. (Please dont ask.)
o, and theres no way i could be pregnant. heh.
help? =\
i guess theres not much i can do except wait...but im scared.
{edit: im more worried about whether or not theres something wrong with me, cause i havent gotten my period in so long =\ than the bcp stuff. im going to find out if i can just take it without waiting for my period, but thats a whole other matter. im sorry for the confusion, and thank you to those who replied and told me to check on the bcp stuff.}
stopping period..?
Jun. 15th, 2002 04:38 pmi've been on ortho for several months and it's fixed a really fucked-up cycle, but i'd like to get rid of it completely. i know if i skip the placebos, i can stop most of it..save for some spotting and such.
the question is...how safe is it to stop having my period? possible health complications/side effects?
info would be much appreciated..

Jun. 15th, 2002 08:07 pmI do have a question, however. I apologize if it's been asked before, but I didn't see anything in the memories about it. So:
I've been having my menses for four or five years, and I'm seventeen. I've never had periods every month; sometimes they come every other month, and sometimes they skip months on end. When I do have them, they tend to be very heavy, and to last for as long as 1.5 weeks; they can get quite debilitating. I know that stress can be an interfering factor, and I have a fair amount of that. I was also sexually assaulted as a very small child, causing a fair degree of internal ickiness and damage, and I've always blamed my non-regularity on that.
However, I remember reading or being told once that non-Caucasian women, particularly those of Middle Eastern ethnicities, often have menses by a different schedule (I have no idea if this applies to the whole fertility cycle), and not every 28 days, as is common in the West. I've never heard of this idea again, though, and I'm wondering if it's true. I'm half-Berber (an conglomerate ethnicity found mostly in Morroco), and adopted by an American Caucasian couple, so I can't really ask any family members. :) Can any
menstrualhut members help me?
Thanks!
