When to put The Keeper in?

I'm expecting my period tomorrow, and I have a brand-new Keeper that I'll be using for the first time. Would you put it in before your period and wait for it to happen (it's pretty regular for me - I'm on birth control and apparently have a predictable body) because it's not just stuffing you up like a tampon, or wait for that first squirt and then put it in?
