Hi everyone,

I've been bleeding virtually non-stop for around five years and no-one seems to be able to help me. I had a laparotomy for an ovarian cyst about two years ago but now get pain around the operation site if I do anything vaguely active or if I stand for a long time.
While I was serving in the military the consultant there put me on the waiting list for a laparoscopy to have a look for endometriosis and adhesions. I left the military before getting that operation and thought I could get it on the NHS back home.
I saw a consultant back home (not my consultant, sadly) and she said she wouldn't give me that laparoscopy but instead said she'd arrange for me to have monthly injections of Prostap (that's Lupron for the Americans). The woman who gives these wasn't in that day, thank God, else I'd have had one by now. I only found out afterwards (because no-one could tell me) about the Prostap. I was just told they would stop all bleeding and if it didn't 'we'll know it's a gastro-intestinal problem'. I wasn't told that it shouldn't be given for vaginal bleeding of unknown cause. Not to mention the potential horrific side effects. It's not for everyone, it's certainly not for me. Perhaps if you're crippled by endometriosis then it would be a good choice but I'm not. She didn't even know if I should stop taking my pill (Cilest) or not. She said, 'you can stop taking it if you want'. I wish I had managed to see my gynaecologist. He's a surgeon and I have a feeling he would have done the laparoscopy. The one I saw just wanted to do more scans but I refused, I've had so many and they never show anything.

Anyway, that's a very brief history. I've now decided to stop taking my Cilest because I'm not convinced it's helping the bleeding. All the doctors tell me the bleeding's not caused by the pill but they're not doing anything to find out what it is caused by.

Normally after a 'period' I can get a couple of days where I don't bleed. But my period ended on Friday and I'm having bloody discharge. It's not blood like a hormonal bleed, I haven't had that so far. This seems like a symptom of my cervical ectropion (I usually get both kinds of bleeding). So my question is this: How long after you stop taking the pill will a cervical ectropion disappear?

Thanks all for your patience and help.

Edit:

Pardon the typos, I'm in a rush to get to work, not illiterate, honestly!
